FROM:    martin@***.com TO:         meg@***.com Hiya Sis,    Haven’t emailed you of late, because I’ve been occupied with the builders and my business meetings. Our new apartments are going up fast. The inspector signed it off without a second glance after I offered him a week at our Coffs Harbour beach house. Of course, he didn’t question those wall cracks because we patched them before he arrived.  We’re contributing to society and I’m darned proud of our achievements. The block will provide housing for single mothers and strugglers. These bums appreciate having a roof over their heads. Once they’re all settled, we’ll up the rent, and if they leave, I can the stock to the highest bidder. City location and all that.  I'm a prominent operator in the building trade, and I can’t afford to let our lifestyle slip. The kid’s college fees are an excellent investment in their futures, and we’ll broaden their social educ...

Hong Kong, Paris, London, New York, and Las Vegas, each hoping to surpass their counterparts, showcase equally dazzling displays.          But wars, cyclones, floods, and earthquakes have shattered countless lives in 2024, and the world yearns for peace and safety. Will there be any relief and restoration in 2025? What do the fireworks symbolize? Does survival as a race in 2024 represent our yearning for peace and safety in 2025?  H ow will we navig...

WORDS: for good or evil?

Psalm 12 What do you think? How do you express it?   Enough!     Kate had met her friends, Jake and Beth, for a double date to the poshest restaurant in town, but her boyfriend had never arrived. She pulled out her phone and gave him a blast.   “You stood me up! You rotten sod!”         “Get lost.” The line clicked shut. “Now you’ve put your foot in it!”     Beth's reaction hit home and s he squirmed, but the guy had gotten under her skin. Could she stop the damage, or would she make it worse? Part of her thought he deserved a tongue lashing because his mouth often ran ahead of his brain.   “He thinks he’s kingpin, always promising me something, but he never turns up, and when you finally track him down, he dismisses you with the weakest of excuses. He’s as slippery as an eel.”   She’d vented, but it hadn’t solved the problem.   We’re all familiar with blusterers, or perhaps we’ve caugh...

Psalm 8      Where is the most picturesque place you’ve ever dined? For me, it was in the dining carriage of a train as it wound its way from Vancouver to Jasper in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. I admired the majesty of the tall snow-clad peaks under a deep blue sky, an ever changing and awe-inspiring vista. By comparison, the sheer magnitude of the Milky Way, with its billions of stars, reminds me of the immense scale of the universe and my tiny place within it.                            ...

His voice echoed above the roar of the city traffic.   “How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? Long ago, a rich man in hell pleaded for a beggar in paradise to cool his tongue, but there’s a massive gul...
